CL, 2NE1’s leader’s rehearsal video of “The Baddest Female” has been revealed. Her perfect performance made the rehearsal look like a real one.
In the morning of June 7, YG Entertainment uploaded CL’s rehearsal video on their official blog. Unlike her usual luxurious self with a fancy outfit with glamorous accessories, CL was wearing no make up, but just a cap. The sporty shorts and sneakers made her look like a teenage hip-hop artist.
But what drew the attention most was her excellent musical talents that made the video look like it was the real performance. Despite the heavy and active choreography, she had no problem singing the song live.
“The Baddest Female” is CL’s first solo song since her debut as 2NE1 four years ago. The song has swept across major music charts instantly after its release. Since her first performance of the song was aired on SBS’s Inkigayo last week, series of positive reviews for CL has been flooding the music world.
A few hundred million won were poured into CL’s music video, but strangely many commented that the live performance is better than the video. The reason behind is CL’s excellent live performance and ability to enjoy being on stage. Normally, when other artists release their rehearsal videos, the clips are usually focused on just dancing, but CL’s shows both her singing and dancing at the same time. Her excellent ability to do both left many viewers awe-struck.
The foundation of CL’s solid music talents has been garnered from 2NE1’s countless experience through holding concerts. For the last four years, 2NE1 has been seen at concerts more than on television programs. It is no surprise that they are comfortable with being on stage.
When 2NE1 first made their debut, YG Entertainment pushed forward a unique promotion by making them appear on music programs once a week, and tried as much as they can to hold back from making 2NE1 appear on too many variety shows. Last year 2NE1 successfully finished their World Tour, which was the first for a South Korean female group. Throughout their career, they have been performing at fellow YG musicians’ concerts (BigBang and Psy, to name a few) as guest artists. Their capacity to perform live in public has strengthened even more through holding YG family’s grand-scale concerts.
CL, while devoting herself for the very first solo song of her career, and is also preparing for the upcoming comeback of 2NE1 later in June.
