[130707] SBS ‘Inkigayo’ Undergoes an Emergency Cancelling in light of the Unfortunate Asiana Flight Crash earlier today.

SBS “Inkigayo” has canceled its show on the 7th.
Due to the unfortunate occurrence of the crash of an Asiana flight bound for San Francisco from Korea, ‘Inkigayo’ hurriedly cancelled its live airing today at 1pm.

An SBS official told OSEN that ‘ A special report was planned to air in light of the crash, but we also felt that such festive music programs wouldn’t be appropriate, thus the decision was made.”

On today’s show 2NE1‘s comeback performance, as well as APink, Dynamic Duo, and other’s were expected to be aired. Though today’s pre-recording took place during the forenoon, the cancellation of the live broadcasting has left future airing undecided for the moment.

SBS “Inkigayo” has been cancelled

An SBS correspondent reported to <Sports Seoul.com>, ” ‘Inkigayo’ has been cancelled due to a special Newflash relating to the Asiana Flight crash.”

The correspondent explained, ” In a time of mourning and remembrance, a show program was deemed to be inappropriate and was decided to be cancelled.”

In the evening, from Shanghai via Incheon, Flight 215 crashed into the runway as it prepared for landing in San Francisco.

Currently 2 have been reported dead, 1 missing, and 180 injured. 77 Koreans included, 291 passengers and 16 flight attendants (a total of 307) were reported to be on the flight. Right after the crash, a majority of the passengers were evacuated via the emergency slide. The two passengers who have passed away were revealed to be of Chinese citizenship.

On the other hand, 2NE1‘s comeback performance had been cancelled as well. Discussion is ongoing on the pre-recording that was done earlier today.

Though initially only singers with inappropriate (for the occasion) costumes and lyrics were cancelled, after a debate, the whole show was cancelled.

For fans who have come for the show, it was reported that some teams held small performances.

On the other hand, Flight OZ214 had left Incheon Airport on the 6th, and had prepared to land on the 28th runway lane on the 7th at 3:28pm in San Francisco Airport. The crash occurred when its main body and tail crashed into the asphalt.

At the present, 2 Chinese passengers have been reported dead and dozens have been reported to be injured.
