[130530] CL expresses infinite gratitude to her fans for ranking #1 with her first solo

CL, the leader of a female group 2NE1, consisting of other members Dara, Bom and Minzy, came back to the music world with her very first solo album since 2NE1′s debut 4 years ago. Her solo song is already No.1 on various music charts.
CL released her solo song “The Baddest Female,” on May 28 at 12p.m. The new song immediately swept across major music charts and on May 30 it is still leading the charts. But her popularity does not end here. In Singapore, her debut song ranked No.1 on iTunes main single chart (Top Singles Songs). This proves that her new single is drawing attention from overseas as well.

“The Baddest Female” is a fruit borne by YG’s main producer, who once was a member of 1Tym. He wrote, composed and recreated the song, adding a slow hip-hop beat of BPM70. {Note that the Korean Korea Music Copyright Association, lists CL as a co-author of the song} The dubstep and dougie* sound is a genre rarely tried by Korean female artists. But the newly debuted talented rapper maximizes the charm of her music, even making it addictive.

So how does CL feel now, with her new song ranking the top already?

On May 30, YG told StarNews CL was initially worried that “the genre could be too unfamiliar and new to the audience”, and she was prepared to receive mixed reviews, but is now “infinitely grateful for the fans who love the song.”

She also said, “I am so relieved and happy that international fans also love my song. I am deeply moved that Taeyang and G-Dragon took their time to appear in my music video and Dara and Psy are promoting my song via Twitter. I am so fortunate to have YG Family in my life.”

She added, “To repay my fans for their love, I am doing my best to make the performance for “The Baddest Female” the best one. So stay tuned!”

CL had been under great pressure before the release of her first solo song, but the positive reactions of the public has lifted the burden and she is now fully focused on preparing for her performance.

She will stage her very first performance of “The Baddest Female” on June 2 in SBS’s Inkigayo, a music ranking television show.
