2NE1’s ‘one song a month’ tactic surprises foreign press

Foreign media showed much astonishment to 2NE1’s strategy on releasing one new song every month from July to October.

America’s media MTV, Spin.com and Billboard.com spotlighted 2NE1 of their comeback with their new reggae-tinged song ‘FALLING IN LOVE’. It highlighted the fact that the group will be releasing a new song every month.

MTV mentioned on its online website on July 9 (local time), “Word on the street is that 2NE1 will be releasing a new single every month from July to October when the girls’ upcoming album drops. Translation? These next four months may in fact be the best of your life. (It all depends on how you define “best.”)”

Billboard, on July 8, also announced that 2NE1 will be releasing a single every month from July to October. It wrote, “2NE1 last made a splash on the K-Pop Hot 100 with their only 2012 single “I Love You” reigning No. 1 for two weeks last summer. Leader CL recently released her debut solo single “The Baddest Female” which peaked at No. 4 last month (June).”

Last year 2NE1 was not able to perform in Korea due to their World Tour schedule. But their comeback on July 8 with ‘FALLING IN LOVE’ and 4 upcoming songs are expected sweep across the music world from summer until autumn. 2NE1 aims to release at least 4 title songs this year.

Regarding 2NE1’s music activities in Korea, the CEO of YG Entertainment, YANG HYUN-SUK commented, “2NE1 always wanted to do more performance in Korea. This is why we are extending the song release period until the end of this year, instead of revealing all songs at once. In that case the fans can see 2NE1 more in Korea. There will be a concert following October.”

2NE1’s new song is at its wrap-up stage. Personnel from the agency said, “The song is almost ready, with recording and performance preparation all done.”
